The Committee on Pensions, Social Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family of the Chamber of Deputies promotes a public hearing this Wednesday (30) to discuss Brazil’s Identification Program.
The request for holding the debate was presented by deputy Flávia Morais (PDT-GO). She emphasizes the importance of secure identification to prevent the exchange and kidnapping of children and adolescents and mitigate the drama of missing persons. For Flávia Morais, the new National Identity Card (CIN), with the broad participation of all federal entities, is the solution to problems that have dragged on for decades in Brazil.
“Brazil is the only country in Latin America and among the 20 largest economies in the world, with the exception of the United States and the United Kingdom, that does not have a civil identification program and structure. Even countries with a GDP smaller than Brazil, such as Indonesia, Angola and Mozambique, structured their civil identification programs to eradicate the aforementioned ills”, lamented the deputy.
Among others were invited:
– the president of the International Identification Institute, Célio Ribeiro;
– the titular judge of the 2nd Juvenile Court of Recife Élio Braz Mendes;
– the secretary of health and environment surveillance at the Ministry of Health, Ethel Leonor Noia Maciel;
– the national secretary for the promotion and defense of human rights of the Ministry of Human Rights, Isadora Brandão Araujo da Silva;
– the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, Pedro Pontual;
– the Papilloscopist of the Civil Police of the Federal District Rafael Perseghini Del Sarto;
– the digital government secretary of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Rogério Souza Mascarenhas.
