The recent report released across various media channels highlighted a significant milestone in the history of civil identification in Brazil. According to a summary from the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services, the new National Identity Card (CIN) has already been issued to approximately 10 million Brazilians. Currently, the CIN is available in 24 states and the Federal District, with only Amapá and Roraima remaining to begin issuing the document.
Established by Law 14,534, dated January 11, 2023, the CIN will be the only nationally valid identity document starting in 2032. This new document represents an important step in modernizing the Citizen Identification System in Brazil, promising to establish accurate data for government registrations, reduce the number of frauds, and enhance the security of Brazilian identification processes.
Célio Ribeiro, Executive President of InterID, emphasizes the significance of this advancement: “The issuance of the National Identity Card for 10 million Brazilians is a significant milestone that demonstrates our commitment to the security and integrity of identification processes. The identification infrastructure is crucial to ensuring that all citizens have safe and efficient access to their rights and services.”
The new document not only modernizes the identification system but also promotes data integration, contributing to a more efficient and secure governmental registry. With the expansion of CIN issuance, Brazil is taking an important step towards a future with fewer frauds and greater confidence in civil identification processes.
As we await the complete implementation of the CIN across the national territory, InterID will continue to support and promote initiatives that strengthen the identification infrastructure in Brazil, ensuring a safer and more efficient system for all citizens.
