After more than a month in Brazilian territory, Bruno Mars’s visit has come to an end. The singer performed his final show in Brazil last Tuesday (5th), in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, marking the last of 15 scheduled concerts across the country. On this occasion, he was presented with a giant National Identity Card (CIN) to call his own and even held up the symbolic document during his performance.
“Bruno Márcio deserves all our affection!” stated the Ministry of Management and Public Innovation’s profile. The ministry’s official account also shared behind-the-scenes footage of the creation of the symbolic document, explaining that the ID card was handed to Bruno on stage.
Speaking to EXTRA, the ministry explained that this gesture was both a way to return the singer’s warmth toward the country and to promote Brazil’s new ID card to the public. The document features the CPF as the sole identification number and will become mandatory starting in 2032.
The presentation of the symbolic CIN follows a wave of requests from fans that began when the musician arrived in Brazil back in September. Bruno Mars spent over a month in the country, attending a soccer match, enjoying a beer while out and about, visiting bars in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, trying local cuisine, and walking around in flip-flops… Practically a Brazilian!
InterID President Célio Ribeiro commented on the initiative, saying, “This initiative by the Ministry of Management and Innovation, gifting Bruno Mars with a symbolic National Identity Card (CIN), highlights the significance of identity for both Brazil and the world. It celebrates not only official identification but also the connection and warmth with which the country embraces everyone who visits. The CIN uses the CPF as a unique national number, providing security and convenience, while also symbolizing the inclusion of every citizen in all Brazilian government digital services. This is why we affirm that the CIN is our greatest instrument of citizenship.”
