Piauí is the first state to issue the new National Identity Card to 25% of the population
More than 830,000 people in Piauí now have a more modern, secure, and free single identification document. The state has launched a pioneering project to issue the ID card to newborns.
Newborn babies receive their first identity card in Piauí
According to the Government of Piauí, four babies between 2 and 4 days old had their fingerprints recorded and received their documents. The service is still in the testing phase and is expected to be implemented starting in 2025.
