September 18, 2024, marked the conclusion of the Digital Citizenship Congress with an exciting agenda, highlighting the importance of the National Identity Card (CIN) in protecting minors and creating a vital bond between mother and child from birth. Children from the CEPI Estrela do Cerrado school visited the event to obtain their first identity cards, reinforcing the relevance of this document for security and citizenship.
Célio Ribeiro, Executive President of the Brazilian Association of Digital Identification Technology Companies (ABRID) and founder and President of InterID, emphasized that the CIN is more than just a simple document. “It is a robust digital platform that will bring ease to the citizen and security to society. This work, developed by the federal government together with SEFIC, with the participation of the Ministry of Health, is crucial to hinder the abduction of newborns in maternity wards and places of birth, as well as to prevent child kidnapping,” Célio highlighted.
Marcela Passamani, Secretary of Justice and Citizenship of the Federal District, emphasized the local pioneering efforts in implementing the CIN in maternity wards, creating an exclusive identification station for children. Ana Estela Haddad, Secretary of Information and Digital Health at the Ministry of Health, highlighted the integration of the CIN with the national health card and the CPF, ensuring that the child is securely identified and linked to the mother from birth.
Concluding the event, Célio Ribeiro left a strong message: “Protecting our children is our greatest challenge, and we will work hard for that.”
