NEONATAL IDENTIFICATION
A dream becoming reality.
The effective implementation of the National Identity Card (CIN) across all 27 Federative Units of Brazil is a major achievement for our country.
This milestone opens up numerous opportunities for the ongoing identification process—designed, developed, and executed by the federal government—to enable the creation of new projects by the states.
At this moment, the federal government, under the coordination of the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic and execution by the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), through its Secretariat of Digital Government (SGD), alongside the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), the Federal Revenue Service, and the Ministry of Health—also part of the Federal Executive Chamber for Citizen Identification (CEFIC)—is working intensively to standardize and establish the necessary procedures to safely implement these projects, ensuring national integration.
Neonatal biometric identification is undoubtedly one of the most crucial steps being standardized by the federal government and incorporated into the National Identification System, where state governments will participate collectively through their Official Identification Bodies.
For Célio Ribeiro, President of ABRID and InterID:
“Being part of this great initiative for identifying our newborns and children, making it harder for criminals to abduct babies and traffic children, is a great privilege.”
Let’s make this happen across Brazil—with technical excellence and international standards.
Some states, such as Goiás, featured in this report, have already begun implementing the necessary technology while adhering to international standards and certifications for equipment and biometrics, which are essential for integration and interoperability.
Our children, identified and protected.
“With the CIN, our children will be identified and protected, making the National Identity Card our greatest instrument of citizenship.”
