The Federal Government launched the National Digital Government Strategy this Friday (June 21) during the Federative Caravan in Piauí, in Teresina. The event was attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, who signed the decree establishing the planning in the area until 2027. One of the new features will be a line of credit in partnership with Caixa, with a total budget of up to R$ 8.2 billion in 2024, through the Infrastructure and Sanitation Financing (Finisa) portfolio.
The National Strategy aims to guide the Federal Government, states, and municipalities in building their own digital government strategies, with the goal of expanding and simplifying access to public services. Among its principles are the pursuit of a more inclusive, effective, intelligent, transparent, participatory, and sustainable state. Piauí was chosen for the launch due to its prominence in digital transformation, being the state that issued the most National Identity Cards (CIN) proportionally, totaling around 622,000 issuances.
Minister Esther Dweck highlighted the importance of a unified strategy for all federative entities. “Only 40% of the states have a Digital Government strategy, and Piauí is one of them. If we can’t bring all of Brazil into this strategy, with everyone moving in the same direction, we won’t be able to provide the population with the gains that this strategy can have,” Dweck stated.
The president of InterID, Célio Ribeiro, also emphasized the importance of the CIN in this context. “The implementation of the National Identity Card (CIN) in Piauí is a significant milestone. With over 622,000 issuances, Piauí demonstrates how the secure identification of citizens can be integrated with digital government strategies. This event not only celebrates technological innovation but also the security and efficiency that the CIN brings to public management,” Ribeiro highlighted.
The new line of credit, Finisa Digital Transformation, will support the acquisition of computer equipment, installation of networks, and fiber optic connections, among others. Rogério Mascarenhas, Secretary of Digital Government, emphasized the need to bring digital transformation to states and municipalities, as local public services must also be digital to meet citizens’ needs.
The National Digital Government Network (GOV.BR Network) will be fundamental for the implementation of the strategy, promoting collaboration and the dissemination of innovative solutions. Federative entities that join the network will be able to use GOV.BR tools for free, such as GOV.BR Access and GOV.BR Electronic Signature, as well as receive methodological support and training in digital government.
The launch of the National Digital Government Strategy represents a milestone in the pursuit of a more integrated and efficient government that uses technology to improve access to and the quality of public services offered to Brazilian citizens. InterID supports this type of initiative, which promotes modernization and security in the identification and public management process in the country.
