Digital Citizenship Congress to be held next week

Only one week remains until the Digital Citizenship Congress. Today (9/9) is the last day for registration. To participate in the event, which will discuss topics such as the new National Identity Card (CIN), the use of Public Digital Infrastructure (IPD), and digital transformation in federal entities, participants must complete the registration form available on the congress portal. The Ministry of Management and Public Services Innovation (MGI) is one of the event’s supporting organizations, which is organized by the Brazilian Association of Digital Identification Technology Companies (Abrid).

“This will be a very important event for us to demonstrate how technology is essential to expanding citizenship for all Brazilians,” said the Secretary of Digital Government, Rogério Mascarenhas. “Based on CIN’s database, the government will be able to track people’s life cycles, potentially offering public services proactively in the future, such as automatically granting benefits,” the secretary explained.

One of CIN’s main innovations is its national standard and unique number, which is the CPF. This new identity reduces fraud, improves administrative records, and impacts the improvement of Brazilian public policies. To date, more than 12 million CINs have been issued in 25 states and the Federal District (DF), with Roraima being the only state not yet issuing the new document to its population.

“Aligned with GOV.BR, CIN is one of Brazil’s main IPDs. This federal government platform currently has over 160 million users and allows access to more than 4,300 services. With these two projects, we are improving the identification of Brazilians both physically and digitally, thereby promoting citizenship,” Mascarenhas explained.

A Public Digital Infrastructure comprises a set of shared digital systems that must be secure and interoperable. These systems can be built from open specifications and standards to offer equitable access to public and private services at a social scale.

Another very important topic to be discussed at the event is the digital transformation in federal entities. To assist these entities in this process, the federal government launched the National Digital Government Strategy. This policy provides a set of recommendations aimed at coordinating and guiding digital government initiatives among all federated entities, expanding and simplifying citizen access to public services.

Other federal agencies supporting the event include the National Institute of Information Technology (ITI), the Federal Police (PF), the Federal Revenue of Brazil (RFB), and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP). Access the Digital Citizenship Congress program.
