Failure with Bolsonaro, government wants to create a single identity card

The Lula government will resume the initiative to create the single identity card document throughout the country. The number used for the national registration will be the CPF.

In February last year, Jair Bolsonaro signed a decree with this prediction and the document would come into force from March 6 of this year. But, with the election year, this proposal, which was linked to the Ministry of Justice, did not advance.

Now, the responsibility for implementing this single identity card will be transferred to the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services, under Minister Esther Dweck.

Lula will sign a decree transferring the mission to that folder and will also change the date for the implementation of the document, moving to December of this year.

When he announced the creation of the document, Bolsonaro announced that its expedition would be free. The understanding is that this single document will be more secure due to the possibility of electronic validation of authenticity by QR Code.

The citizen will also be able to access the document by accessing the Gov.br platform.
